Lymphocyte Immunisation Therapy (LIT) at Janisthaa

At Janisthaa, we understand that recurrent pregnancy loss and repeated unsuccessful fertility treatment can be difficult for couples. Lymphocyte Immunisation Therapy (LIT) is an immunotherapy approach that may be considered in selected cases after a detailed fertility and clinical evaluation.

Whether LIT is appropriate depends on the patient’s medical history, previous pregnancy or fertility treatment history and relevant investigations. Dr Shwetha Y Baratikkae reviews each case individually and explains the treatment, possible considerations and available options before proceeding.

When May LIT Be Considered?

In selected cases of recurrent pregnancy loss or repeated unsuccessful embryo implantation, a fertility specialist may review whether immune-related factors require further evaluation. LIT is not appropriate for every patient and should only be considered after other relevant causes have been assessed and the individual case has been reviewed by a specialist.

LIT may be discussed in selected cases involving

  • Recurrent pregnancy loss after appropriate evaluation.

  • Repeated unsuccessful embryo implantation or fertility treatment.

  • Cases where a specialist recommends further evaluation of possible immune-related factors.

  • Patients considered suitable for LIT after review of their clinical history and investigations.

The purpose, suitability and expected role of LIT should be discussed individually with the fertility specialist before treatment.

LIT is not appropriate for every patient. Before recommending treatment, Dr Shwetha reviews the patient’s medical and fertility history, relevant investigations and individual clinical circumstances. The treatment process, possible risks and follow-up requirements should be discussed before proceeding.

The number of LIT sessions varies depending on the individual treatment plan. Dr Shwetha will explain the recommended number and timing of sessions after clinical evaluation.

No. LIT does not guarantee pregnancy, and treatment outcomes depend on many individual factors. Whether LIT has a role in your treatment should be decided after reviewing your fertility history, previous pregnancy or IVF history and relevant investigations with a fertility specialist.

Mild redness, swelling, or itching at the injection site may occur but usually resolves quickly.

In rare cases where partner lymphocytes are not suitable, donor lymphocytes may be considered under medical guidance.

LIT should only be considered after a fertility specialist reviews your medical history, previous pregnancies or fertility treatments and relevant investigations. Dr Shwetha can explain whether additional evaluation or LIT should be considered in your individual case.
